HSS Westchester announced it will be hosting a special program on ACL injuries in youth athletes, beginning at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 22 at the Outpatient Center on Westchester Avenue in White Plains.
Hosting the program will be three experts, including Andrew Pearle, an Orthopedic Surgeon at the HSS Hospital for Special Surgery; Laurey Lou, a physical therapist with the HSS Rehabilitation and Sports Performance Center and Jimmy Russomano, the program manager of HSS Sports Safety.
Among the topics to be addressed during the hour-long program include:
- ACL injury screening;
- ACL injury education programs for coaches, parents and athletes;
- ACL injury treatment and rehabilitation options.
“ACL injuries are among the most common and devastating injuries a young athlete may sustain,” the experts said. “They are particularly prevalent in sports that involve quick changes in speed or direction, such as soccer or lacrosse; or sports that require frequent jumping and landing, such as basketball or volleyball.”
Those interested in registering for the program can do so online, or by calling Pamela Villagomez at (203) 705-2956 or emailing villagomezp@hss.edu.
